Review of The Jungle Book
by Jude K.
Want a fun movie for the whole family? The Jungle Book is the movie to see. Jon Favreau (director) and Walt Disney Pictures bring an amazing animated film to life. There was no actor better chosen to play Mowgli. Neel Sethi brought comedy, drama, and intensity to the movie. Bill Murray also brought a hilarious performance to the role of Baloo, Mowgli's new friend. This might not surpass Murray's work in Caddyshack, but it is still amazing. The script of the movie disappointed me. A movie this good should have better writing.
The plot of the story is that the man cub Mowgli is being hunted by the deadly tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba). Mowgli is currently living with the wolves, but staying there endangers them. He then leaves. In the rising action, Mowgli encounters the snake Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), who tells him why Shere Khan wants him dead. Scarlett Johansson gives a mysterious performance.
Later in the movie, Mowgli gets taken by monkeys to the monkey king King Louie (Christopher Walken), who asks for the man-made gift of fire.
My favorite character, Bagheera (Ben Kingsley), saves Mowgli with the the help of Baloo. While being saved, Mowgli finds out that Shere Khan killed Akela, the wolf leader, to draw Mowgli back to the wolf den to kill him.
My overall rating for this movie is an A-.
